 LANDSCAPING

Edible landscapes are something we are very passionate about. Where possible food should be grown locally and in our own backyards and a good permaculture design can help to achieve this.

Permaculture

What is permaculture?

Permanent-agriculture 'permaculture' is an innovative framework for creating sustainable ways of living, it is a practical method of developing ecologically harmonious, efficient and productive systems that can be used by anyone, anywhere.

This in practical terms means designing zones and areas which are linked together to create an overall integration of landscape and people - working with rather than against nature. Incorporating fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines and perennial vegetables which have yields directly useful to humans.
It's our food, water, fuel and shelter managed in a sustainable and ongoing way of life.
A thoughtful, balanced ecosystem where you only take what you need and recycle as much as you can.

If you're using a permaculture system little is thrown away. Garden waste, leaves, table scraps, and other leftover by-products get turned into fertilizer or food.
